Law & Order
Coming Soon to a Law & Order Near You: Ex-Writer Guilty of Kidnapping and Sex Attack:
Mr. Braunstein was accused of dressing as a firefighter, his face hidden behind a helmet and visor, and setting off a smoke bomb to trick a former colleague into letting him into her apartment in Chelsea. Once inside, he knocked her out by putting a chloroform-soaked rag over her mouth, stripped her, tied her to her bed with a green parachute cord and sexually molested her for 13 hours, the jury found. …
The jury in New York State Supreme Court rejected the defense argument that the writer, Peter Braunstein, was too mentally ill to intentionally commit a crime.
I can already see Jack McCoy objecting to the insanity defense… love it.

Speaking as someone who works in a law firm, I can only say…Criminal Intent is the shiz.
Oh good grief, did he just want to try some things out to see just how far he could get??? Dressing as a firefighter, personally I think that too is a crime in itself!!!!
If only he were a writer for SVU, the irony would have been AMAZING.
no, it would be casey novak prosecuting because it’s a sex crime.
i, too, am a L&O junkie.
haha yah it would be casey… but casey doesn’t get all worked up about responsibility. so i kludged it and pretended it might be a l&o ep.
haha u caught me – thanks for keeping me honest!
This story line has already been done by CSI down to the foot fetish that the guy had…… I am suprised that LAO would do it too… I guess they are really needing new ideas…
that’s an old trick – a lot of inpatients in psy. hospitals are criminals. and they are not really mentally ill.
“a test case for a rare type of psychiatric defense”
gee, looks like they figured out yet another variant of the insanity defense… do we have too many lawyers in the country?
I just witnessed an interesting phenomena on Dan’s site:
http://www.xanga.com/TheTheologiansCafe/592763062/charlie.html?nextdate=last
Someone used an em tag in their comment, and the tag apparently didn’t get closed out even when the div tags were closed. I posted an end em tag and it worked. Take a look: it makes everyone’s comments italic.
For example:
I hereby declare that everything from here down on this page shall be in italics.
[and it was so]
Note: it only does this on themed sites, due to the way comments are rendered in the code. On classic sites, the em tag does italicize the date/time/username line, but after that line becomes disabled (because you’re using tables, which work better for keeping things contained).
Ok, I’ve made my point. Enough of the italics.
[and it was so, again]
detective Goren is my hero!!!
yea. i think goren would make him crack. give goren 55 minutes to do his thing, and by the end of the hour he’d be crying that it was all because of his mother.
jack mccoy is cool too, although you have to wonder, do intelligent cops like goren really exist?
You know…there was actually an episode of CSI:Miami that featured a story like this, the whole gearing up like a fireman with the smoke bomb trick and all that….but added to that the guy also had a foot fetish. It was weeeeiiiiird.
Terrible but as you point out the episode is already written for them.
RYM: I updated the Firefox and the problem is solved.
After a big group dinner, one friend suggested that we head to Sing Sing. I was terribly confused because I thought he meant the prison. But he meant the Karaoke place… Haha, I blamed it on too much “Law & Order”!!
Btw, xanga’s new slideshow feature is awesome! I just created one and put it up in my latest post!
thanks for subscribing.. interesting blog. I like law and order too
hahaa…. i was actually thinking a similar thing about that guy who jumped off the stratosphere in vegas last week — CSI is gonna do a great episode on that!
i swear i’ve seen this as a story line on an episode of some show or other already…i mean the way he tricked his way into the apt and the assault.
My favorite L&O is SVU. The others I watch when I can, but SVU is the only one I really want to see.
As far as the geek thing, maybe I am just 1/2 a level because I just watch Heroes. I don’t watch any the other things, never have read the Harry Potter novels, or any of that.
And obviously, I just used another browser and now can see your page normally.
Psh the insanity defense doesn’t apply. Wait, is this a real case, or just a tv episode?
Wow! I love it! …well, I hate it, but I think you know what I mean..
Thanks for feeding us that story.
i’d like to tie casey novak down with a parachute cord and…
wait, insanity, insanity!
I FINALLY figured out where I heard this story…it was an episode of CSI (Las Vegas)!
