  • XTOOLS IDEAS AND FEEDBACK

Thanks to everyone for all of your ideas for xTools improvements!  Janet, Marc, and yours truly spent the last week incorporating a lot of your ideas into the new xTools.  Mostly, it’ll be a lot harder to lose a post without getting some sort of warning!

    WARNING WHEN YOU CLOSE XTOOLS

About the confirmation [warning] – how difficult would it be to have one of those that popped up when you close the xtools window?  Because of pop-ups on other sites, I have accidently closed my xtools more times than I can count :(

Great idea, Carnivale!  We just added this…

    WARNING WHEN YOU “CLICK HERE”

how about giving some confirmation to that one thing where it goes “comment box not working? click here?” i click on that sometimes on accident and it erases my whole post …

Good idea, this will soon trigger a warning as well.

    WARNING WHEN YOU CLICK EDIT-IT

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been composing a post, only to notice an error in an older one, click “edit”, and lose the one I’m already working on. That, or a little dialog box to say “editing this will make you lose the post you’re composing – turn back, before it’s too late!!!”… er, or something to that effect.

    Done.

There were also some questions around Xtools in alternative browsers:

    XTOOLS ON THE MAC

Um….are you working on a version for us Mac users? Don’t forget about us, now…

We just bought a Mac so we can test Xtools in Safari!  Before we tested xanga features by trekking to the Apple Store in downtown SoHo.  This new method is slightly more efficient.

    XTOOLS IN MOZILLA

With the relaunch, will premium xTools be available to non-IE browsers? The only reason I use IE anymore is to write posts (mostly because of that small space you have to write in).

We’ve made some serious upgrades to the Premium plaintext xTools, including lots and lots of space to write in.  We’re also well on our way to making a rich-text editor for Mozilla/Netscape (although we couldn’t get that ready in time for this release).  We hope to eventually release rich-text editors for Mozilla and Safari.

    AND IN CONCLUSION

We’re in the last round of internal testing, and things are looking pretty tight.  As for this comment…

EEEEK!  MY LOINS BURN WITH ANTICIPATION!!!!

…I just gotta say, I thought *we* were excited about the xTools relaunch!   Give us this week to wrap up final testing and documentation, and we’ll have this out for you soon.

  • Offline client please.

  • THANK YOU!!!

    you’re my hero.

  • Sweeet!! Can’t wait to see the new tweaks in effect. I’ve lost my post one too many times and instead of rewriting the blog, I end up with a blog saying “I had this profound blog ready to go but got erased when I …” Thanks for making the changes!

  • Yay for the more space!!!! Hopefully spell chekcing will wokr in NS/Moz too soon (it’s there, just doesn’t work in NZ 7.1 )

Any chance of making the rich text editor an option? I rather like the plain text one… ‘specially if you make it so there is more space

  • so what’s the ETA for the new stuff??

  • I cannot WAIT!

  • have you guys ever thought about writing a client that doesn’t require the need of using any browser? Heck, I’m actually interested in writing one.

  • Give us this week to wrap up final testing

    Never mind, found the answer

  • Woo Hoo!  LOL, Mozilla and Safari: sounds like we are going to Africa!   FWIW, I think Apple should have given you a Mac since you are testing it’s use for ultimately for THEIR benefit. Thanks for everything!

  • Are you guys implimenting all this stuff already? Because I have an Xtools editing window open, and though I pressed submit and the icon changed to the eggtimer one, nothing happened. I refreshed my page and the latest edit of the post hasn’t appeared…

  • hehehe… you’re so cool.
i just have one question. not something that needs done, just a question.
why can’t you copy and paste stuff from your xtools-blog-matic 3000?

before the new and improved, my friends and i would attempt at copy and pasting what we had written just in case something did happen to loose it, but we never could.

again, just a question, no attention needed.

  • Yeah, because the IE 6.0 that came with my PC is even trippier than it’s supposed to be (eek), I’ve been using Seanmeister’s Mozanga device to post. Because of that, I now use Mozilla instead of IE full-time. The xTools won’t affect me much, but it will be nice when I’m posting from another computer that uses IE….

  • more features — you warm my heart.

  • i you guys!!!!!!!

  • Feel the burning in our loins, indeed!

    Viva la xTools!

  • your picture is depressing. I don’t think I’d be happy about dropping my ice cream =/

  • hey – i just ordered premium services last night and i recieved a conversation email. my paypal payment won’t clear my checknig account until oct. 6, does this mean i won’t be able to use premium until the 6th? because my service settings are still set at free and not premium. comment on my xanga with a reply or send me an email(listed on my page), either works.

  • lol ^_^

    just leavin some propz!

  • oh? well, anyhoo, HOWDY!

  • why doesnt sound work on the sites? i notice its not just mine.

  • You are so cool that you’ve completely run off with my red shoes!!

(that’s a good thing, they are VERY snazzy shoes)

  • I was really excited.  You guys are grand.

  • spanks a lot!

mm. your picture makes me incredibly sad.

  • I ordered xanga premium for 1 month and paid 4 dollars via paypal on sept 30. the check cleared my account on oct 2. paypal says it will clear on oct 6, hasnt cleared. i was told by a xanga staff member id have my premium services started when my check cleared. i dont care what paypal says, the withdrawal for four dollars cleared my account and id like my services started today.
