FINAL DESTINATION
I got the feeling this week that someone upstairs doesn’t like me!
Ever see the teen slasher flick, Final Destination? Some kids cheat death by not boarding a doomed airplane… so “Death” comes after them one at a time, killing them off using seemingly freak accidents.
That’s what the last week felt like. A quick recap:
- Cable modem blows out at home
- Time Warner rep can’t fix cable modem, says my home router is also broken
- Hacker attacks Xanga repeatedly, taking down site. We get site back up. Lather, Rinse, Repeat.
- Router blows at ISP, taking entire site down. ISP Admin choses this moment to go on vacation.
- Up for 30 hours, moving servers and re-testing site.
- An hour after I fall asleep, power blows for entire Eastern Seaboard. No electricity or water for 24 hours.
- I go into work to reply to emails, and our entire building has been shut down awaiting post-blackout “safety inspection”
- Come home and cable modem still not working – cable TV also stops working
The first few things got me upset, but then the ISP router blew out and it all seemed a bit surreal. By the time I was walking home after the blackout, I was laughing at it all!
While I was offline, finished up some FAQs for the Comments, Eprops, and Guestbooks. Catching up on email and stuff tomorrow… thanks for bearing with us!

Sometimes you have to laugh or you’ll just explode. Laughing seems so much more tidy. Glad you were able to see the irony in it.
Ya know…ya got to have some downs before you are up…..but this is ridiculous. Think all the bad luck has been used up and it is going to be GOOD from here on out! Thank you, “the boys” as I call you, for being so diligent and determined. You have created an avenue for me that has made friends I never would have had and a chance to create that would never have happened elsewhere. You all have made my golden years…golden

I’m truly sorry that you had a week like that.. the mere thought of it gave me twitches. Horrible, horrible time… Im sorry sweetie.. Murphy’s Law got the best of you it seems… it’ll get better, get some rest!

that’s alright john. we know you’re the man. know you’re doing all you can, despite how critical of xanga i can be at times. We trust you are doing everything you can to keep things in top form. after all, you have much more vested interest in this than we do.

You seem to have taken a peek into my world. Welcome to the life of a Murphy’s Laws Survivalist! My today was a prime example… a Phillipino native taking my order at McD’s continually screwed up my order at the drive-thru. Even when I got to the pick-up window after hopefully having the order straightened out, they still had about 3 more errors. Then we get to my friend’s house, 8 miles away, & her sandwich wasn’t in the bag, which I had paid for. Needless to say, I was PISSED!!! I told the manager NOT to put a person at the drive-thru order window who’s first language wasn’t English. I’m writing to Corporate, because my entire over $18 order was completely beyond all their requirements & all we’re getting out of it is the sandwich we didn’t get that we already paid for!
Anyway… you guys have worked overly hard this past week & have done well. Except for one thing. I haven’t received my subscription emails since August 10th! I know that at least half of that is downtime, so there were none, but how about the last 3 days worth? Has that not been reset with the new ISP?

I can top it…
Husband reports for duty to find one officer has had his shoulder dislocated,
the next day my husband tells me his partner (he is a police officer) has been sent to the hospital with a possible heart attack.
The next day he (husbands work partner) is flown out to a hospital due to nearly dying in his sleep after the hospital sent him home,
then my husbands last supervisor (before he got the job he is at now) and his wife were ran off of the road and killed in an accidnet.
This all occured in a weeks time.
My husband says he either needs to quit his job or get a lottery ticket….I think he is right…

THANK YOU TO THE WHOLE XANGA TEAM!! So nice to have xanga up and running..and wow..much faster too!! Impressive impressive. The only thing I’m worried about now..that I have contacted xanga about is..when I signed up for premium it was back when Xanga Lifetime membership was $100 and I paid that on a credit card, but never received a receipt. I’m sure you are all busy trying to keep things in ship shape order. THANX for fixing up xanga…GOOD JOB EVERYBODY!!

Hey thanks for commenting on my site, I didn’t think that you Xanga cool people actually did that. It made me feel special though, thanks a bunch! So many things made my day today. Two good friends got me 24 roses for no apparent reason, so pretty! My friend Steven gave me 3 homestarrunner tattoos, which rock my face off. Then my friend,who we call hippy, let me borrow his red nail polish that is just so cool. And THEN you commented on my website. Good day man, great day.
