I Dream of Charlie
When my alarm went off this morning, I was in the middle of a dream about giving a bath to my four-month old son.
All I remember is the last few seconds of the dream: I was looking around the tub and couldn’t see Charlie anywhere. So I put my hands underwater, and there he was hidden under the surface of the water?!? When I pulled him up, he wasn’t breathing and his eyes were black and blue. I must’ve forgotten he was in the tub and he had drowned!!
I woke up and was in a full panic! So of course I had to go to the nursery and see him right away, just to make sure he was still alive. There he was, playing happily as he smiled up at me…
Thank goodness, Charlie!! You gave me quite a scare…
That’s the first dream I can remember in six years or so… what a doozy.

All of my nightmares seem to involve loved ones dying. It helps when you can see/talk to them ASAP afterward.
I’m glad you could check on your adorable son & see that he was ok.
Jeez… that’s awful dream to have, seriously…. sorry you had to experience that. But on the plus side, LOOK HOW CUTE. ^_^ (And I’m not hugely fond of babies either… but your son is adorable!)
Wow, that’s a scary dream… thank goodness it wasn’t real!
Awful dream, but what a beautiful baby!
Definitely not a dream any new father wants. Charlie is an angel.
Welcome to Parenthood! Worries, nightmares, guilt… Happily, the rewards far outweigh all that stuff. Your son is beautiful.
Beautiful little guy!
What a cutie……….hugs
He’s so handsome!
wow! glad it was only a dream.
the love of a father!
What a darling.
Glad that was only a bad dream.
you never dream of me anymore?
all those lies…
He’s adorable!
ohmygoodness…..he’s adorable!!!

SIGH

He looks like his dad.
Those are one of the worst kinds of dreams. Welcome to parenthood. I hope the good dreams far outweigh the bad one.
And that is one adorable little angel sitting up there. What a cutie.
Gah! What a scary dream!
i need a chair like that.
handsome kid. you should buy him a pair of rollerblades so he can skate away from all the girls that will be chasing him later in life.
p/s.: what is that chair for?
awwww he is just beautiful!! Dreams are often showcasing your fears and that’s what your dream shows. You want to be sure he is safe and that is reflected in the dream. symbolism, it can drive a person crazy!! Take care.
@owbert - it’s called a bumbo… it’s for small babies who want to sit up but aren’t able to do so yet!
You sure you didn’t write this just as an excuse to post your baby’s pic? You have a beautiful son and he looks like he has such a happy nature.
wow, that’s a scary dream. But that’s an amazing pic!
@SavonDuJour - haha no, my wife posts his pic on her blog almost every day. it was just an intense emotional experience, so i thought i’d share it on my blog.
agh.. i had one of those dreams before about my sister.. again i talked to her immediately after i wake up just to check if she was alright and she was.
dreams like that sucks!
i can’t get enough of your son – he should be a model baby! ^_^ dreams about death are supposedly about change, nothing bad. but i don’t really know if i believe in those sorts of things…probably just fatherly apprehension ^^
wow he is cute, haha
Your son is adorable =)
I did it, Charlie… I’m back!!
This is my favorite picture of Charlie so far!
And in a blink of an eye he’d be a teenager!
what a cute pic
dream prediction would say it’s a good sign ~ don’t worry! i’m sure it really scared you. things are good now, right? haha, ur son is so cute!!!!!!
haha, that is one cute baby.
Came over from Seedsowers’s Sunday Shoutout~ this cowgirl’s happy to meet you! Sweet baby face there~ those Charlie dreams keep coming until they are adults. I used to dream I was on the beach with our nine kids~ and they all kept throwing themselves into the water. Just as I would pull two out~ two more would throw themselves back into the water.
Now I dream they will never leave the house.
I love following your wife’s blogs on Charlie. Even though I don’t have children of my own yet, I am hooked on motherhood and am experiencing it vicariously..haha.
Great interview w/ Seedsower!! I’ve been part of Xanga since 2003 and consider this place my home, and as I wrote on her site I am glad for the vision and dedication that you have amongst your other responsibilities (now dad). BTW–what are the possibilities of visiting Xanga headquarters next time I make it to NYC? ;O
Awwww, what an adorable baby! That’s a horrible dream though… D: Thank goodness it was just a dream!
Dreams like that are the worst. D:
That is a dream that so many parents have had, and yes, it’s scary. I hate to tell you this, but they get worse when they’re teenagers.
Oh man, what a scary dream to have! Glad that didn’t happen!
He’s soooo adorable!
just love it when babies smile, they are so darling. their happiness never wavers.
my nephew has a bumbo… or whatever you call those things. I changed his diaper and boy. it takes love.
I think all new parents have those dreams…
Scary dream. I had one when my middle daughter was young that she was run over by a car in our driveway. For years I was hyper-vigilant about keeping her out of the driveway. Don’t know what I would have done had I had a dream about her drowning in the bathtub…she may have been one dirty kid for years. Heh. You have an adorable son there, John!
i love those baby chairs. my neice has one in green. SOOO cute ;D
awwww.
whoa..that’s a pretty scary dream. hope you’re feeling better.
cute kid =)
your baby is beautiful! that is a very frightening dream!
JOHN!!!!!
He is just so beautiful!!!
I have been away for a while but this was so heartwarming…. He is a very happy baby… I am so happy for you both!!!
Tinaaka the thorn in your side.. LOL
