Here’s an idea: Expiration dates for public posts to go either private or protected after a specified period of time.
I can’t tell you how many times that has happened to me, and the end product ends up being forced, flimsy.. lacking that original passion. Maybe I’ll start taking a notebook around with me..
That is an interesting post.
I once put all my 2005 post entries private. I have change what I am have been writing about quite a bit.
I almost never post right away. My entries usually change a lot from first draft to public post. The last couple have been done quickly and with little thought and they weren’t really very good.
I certainly agree
hah.. that’s so true. It happens to me al ot also.
personally, I think hiding older posts ruins the experience of reading through someone’s blog.
Very true. Every now and again, I can draw from the well, but mostly those ideas sound dumb to me on looking at them again, so I don’t write them.
i have several posts in mind on the verge of their expiration date. i don’t think they’re gonna make it.
I mean, that old post might seem stale to you, the author, but there are millions of people who haven’t seen it yet… y’know?
My muse seems ready and present, plus I do some copy and paste–seems like the words just flow out of my fingers. A good imagination works-so does News of the Weird! And we all love pictures!
I’m expired ~ lol
HAHA, so I guess you liked at least one of the references I gave you!
Arghhhhh
So many times this has happened to me.
It’s frustrating because I have the perfect post all mapped out and then poof! haha
RYC – “hey sorry cakalusa… i can’t help it if the ladies love me.”
Haha!
Yeah…sometimes my posts go stale as soon as I post them.
Go figure.
this does happen to me SO OFTEN! man. this person couldn’t have said better what i’ve been thinking lately. too bad there wasn’t enough meat on that post, it could be that second featured that i mentioned when posts go stale… screw ‘em and post a meme! aw, just kidding… i’ll drop it now!
ah yeah, and i agree with sean, too, up there. ^_^ i try not to do that too often, even if i hate the post after looking back on it. bleh.
that was rather witty.. what about when comments go stale?? when you read an entry.. and then you have a brilliant thought to compliment their writing.. then poof! gone.. blank… it’s happened before.. haha
that’s quite true. i thought i was the only weirdo…
This happens to me when writing stories, not posts.
haha. i hope i can find in laws that would put up with that.
yeah, that happens to me all the time too! that’s why i’ve been posting less and less lately. i’m online a lot less these days, so by the time i sit down to write, the topic has lost its luster.
Did you ever have one of those ideas that
aw never mind.
RYC: I’m sure you knew that I was joking about being a “professional blogger”. I’m an optometrist. You knew that, right?
Some shitty posts are just written testaments to how some major
changes are happening in one’s life, good or bad, that are either too
precious or too embarrassing to articulate in a blog where other
people’s comments, or lack thereof, only diminish their meaning.
I generally tend to click the “submit” button anyway… that has to be a tragic flaw for sure. Good post though.
Happens to me as well. I write my stale ideas on a post-it which I throw into a box of other post-its like it. I call it my “X-Box.” Sometimes I reach in there and grab an old idea, only to discover that I can write about it! It was just writer’s block dwarfing my creative prowess. What usually happens though, is that the old idea I dograb ends up being stupid.
That happens to me a lot. Darn.
THAT’S WHY WE PRE-WRITE, FOLKS!
SOmetimes I have like a real good idea so I write it on a napkin or something and when it’s time to type I draw a blank I haaaaaate it.

Sometimes, post don’t really go stale, Like me for example I don’t really blog unless I feel the need to blog so my latest entries just sits there untill I get inspired to write another one. But untill then I still like to log on and see what other people have to say and comment on it. I don’t really expect them to leave comments on an entry that was written a month and a half ago.
i am totally agree but since i started traveling around the world this
april, almost all of my entries go stale! and i just updated my march`s
graduation! but at least my readers would know what i had done =) and i recall all the sweet memories while putting them down in words! it
all depends ya =)
Guess mine seem stale as my commenters have dropped from view. But yes I understand her point completely.
ha, I know what you mean!
yes, I suppose cab drivers like me do get to meet a lot of celebreties… I have only met coheed and cambria, but hopefully more in the future?
The only problem I forsee is, though driving is fun, it pays so very little!!!
Have I mentioned how much I enjoy Xanga? Thanks so much for working so hard to put this together. I have benefitted from it greatly.
Old Hat
if you have never seen it before, it’s new to you, lol. I think all posts that people want to be seen should be seen. I think after a person dies, if they had any hidden posts they should be shown too. A blog is suppose to be something left (I think) for the future so that people in the future have an idea what people thought/ talked about. I still go to a dead friends xanga to remember him.
this all would be solved if there was a blog-o-phone
call 1-800-xanga and it goes voice to post straight to your personal page. you can send a confirmation via text message too – nice.
