  • NYC FIREWORKS


    Where is the best place in NYC to see fireworks?


    It’d be great if the fireworks explode around the Statue of Libery like in the pictures on the right… does that really happen?!  If so, I’d definitely stake out a picnic blanket on Rockefeller Park…  but not sure if it’s worth it.


    I’d appreciate any help from fellow New Yorkers!  Is there a chill place downtown to watch fireworks from?

  • i was on the FDR last year and it was spectacular!!!  Three boats right in front of you.  I might go again this year.

  • the best places are rooftops in manhattan…if you can sucker a friend into letting you go to the roof of their office you’ll get a great view. hope you enjoy the fireworks. they’re amazing in person.

  • The best place to watch the fireworks is at the FDR but it gets a bit crowded

  • I usually get a good view at South Street Seaport area. However, I am not an expert on this. :D

  • The less crowded area would be by the Christopher Street Pier.. you can see all 3 fireworks locations at once and not experience the crowd of South Street, South Ferry or the FDR.  (The Pier is on the West Side Highway and about 8th Street).  My other alternative would be to head to Williamsburg or Brooklyn Heights in Brooklyn .

  • hey john! i am extremely impressed with all the changes in Xanga and all the hard work all of you put into it just so that we can update our daily thoughts and ramblings.

    i was wondering if you could make an option for putting a calender on the left side modules for all regular xanga users that could have links to all the entries in the month to enable all viewers to view entries instead of going through the tedious and time consuming method of using the arrows. i know there’s a “select the date” thing and u can find entries, but it’s still not very convenient to use. i know this may be a “exclusively primium user” option, but i know many people who would appreciate it greatly if it was for all regular users.

  • well the macy’s fireworks are on the east side… and anything regarding the hudson is on the west side… so i think the seaport would be a better bet than the battery park vicinity.

  • mm Can i suggest something to make Xanga alot better?….I think we should have some button where we can delete our own Comments..And also have reply comments..So we dont need to go all the way to the persons xanga to write them back what they wrote to us..And the delete button where we can Delete our OWN comments on other peoples xangas….i dont know i just think that would be awsome for xanga….maybe? sorry if this offended you..Xanga is still great tho

  • I dunno about the fireworks and such but I have a suggestion for keeping xanga happy-we need more colors to choose from for, well, everything!! I’m missing the pastels and such.

  • OH and also an option for letting the fonts we type in stay when we post-I type first on Word and then copy and paste, but it doesn’t save the font I typed in…

  • IMPORTANT! Please look at LORbrother19′s site…I really don’t think people with stuff like that should be allowed to have a site..let alone be able to communicate with sane people.  If there is anything you can do about him and all his…whatever…it would be great.

  • Hi John, you run Xanga? I filed a complaint a while ago and I haven’t heard anything, but a person on Xanga has absolutely been terrorizing my life. Someone created the 2 sites http://www.xanga.com/peekaboo1 and http://www.xanga.com/huge_head just to mock me. I go to Dartmouth College and graduated from Carmel High School, and that person joined the Dartmouth College blogring and the Carmel High School blogring with their joke with, which has some pretty unflattering pictures of me on it, just to make fun of me. The websites exist solely to demean me online, and now I don’t even have the courage to post on Xanga anymore because of this person. I have been on Xanga for a year now, and I don’t have the heart to continue any longer. If you run Xanga and you read this, can you please remove that person from Xanga, because he or she is really trying to ruin Xanga for me.

  • hey john, i just have an idea. i used to have an open diary way back when, and i remember you could change your user name whenever you wanted, just as long as no one else had it ,you could have it. you would have the same url and same site but different name. do you know what i mean? i was just suggesting this because i know a lot of people like to change their user names, so they leave their xanga and make a completely new one. i thought this would be a good idea and if you could consider it that would be great! thanks a lot for reading =)

  • A serious message. I wish there was a way to enable only comments but no eprops. I don’t really like the concept of eprops, and enabling only comments would encourage some actual content as responses to your updates (rather than crap like “2 eprops for everyone! Whoooo!”). I know there’s the option for the reader to put comments only, but I wish that were up to the Xangaite (Xangaian? Xangan?) to decide.

  • I don’t know if you actually read these comments, since you get so many.  But I do have a question…Could it be possible (ever) to be able to rename the people on our subscriptions list?  For example, I could re-name HotRA to Ben on my subscription list (and only i could see it.)  It would make for easier xanga surfing.  Anyway, like I said, I have no idea if you’ll read this, but thanks if you do!

  • Question: Why the heck do the protected lists only allow a certain number of people to be on there? The whole reason for a protected list is to let the people you want to read that entry: Lets say I want everyone on my list to read that entry, but not people who don’t have a xanga and just randomly browse my site? Maybe you should fix this…
