  • How to manipulate your children

Charlie is starting to understand more and more, and of course he trusts me completely.  Which means it's a great time to start manipulating him, before he gets smart enough to not listen to anything I say.

Along those lines, I've been trying to make him into a Yankee's fan.  It's not because I'm a Yankee's fan, although I am (mostly because of Matsui of course).  It's because I couldn't bear it if Charlie were a Mets or Red Sox fan.  Arggh....  so anyway, you see how I am forced (forced!) to manipulate him into liking the same sports teams that I do.

My wife Bee was kind enough to get Charlie a Yankee's jersey and hat, so I've been trying to make him wear it as often as possible.

He's a good sport about it, although he doesn't usually like to wear hats.  I trick him into wearing the hat though, by putting his hat on my head and repeating "Mine!  Mine!" over and over again.  He knows what "mine!" means, and goes insane when I claim that the hat is mine.  So then he starts yelling that it's "mine!" back to me, and insists on putting it on right away.

I have to say: I am really enjoying programming the software in my kid's head.  After 30 seconds of saying "Mine!" in the morning, he doesn't take the hat off for a good half hour.  I will program him regularly, until he doesn't ever take the hat off.

Ah, fatherhood.  This is what all good dads do, right?  Right???

Charlie sez, he is not amused.

    Have a great weekend!!
