  • COMMENTS UPDATE

    Wow, I’m still in shock that one post could get 18,502 comments?!

    In any case, comments should be fully restored.  The old comments
    are back, the new comments are happy, and the Next/Last links are
    working again for posts with more than 25 comments (for the last day or
    so, all the comment data has been there – but the Last link wasn’t
    quite working). 

    Could you give your sites a check, and let us know how things are looking?

    ps there are a very few comments that we’re still in the process of
    restoring (about 2000 comments across the entire site).  Hopefully
    those should be back in the next day or so…  we’ll keep you
    posted!

  • Everything works quite well except the Eprops in the feedback log seem to be having some trouble in that It says I’ve recieved them but it doesn’t list the users that I’ve recieved them from.

  • the old eprops are gone! comments are back, but the eprops aren’t. not that that’s so important…. but since you asked if everything was okay….

  • Sorry – still not showing up properly (as I’ve said in comments and emails which seem to continually go unanswered). On the Feedback Page/eprops link, the most recent props are from May 26. You have to click on the Comments link to see new eprops from the last few days. Also, no comments BETWEEN May 26 and June 18 are showing up yet. Still hosed. Still not happy.

  • yea mine isnt working…i have 3 different xangas and when i sign into one it transfers me to my origional one saying i’m signed in with that one insteado f the other one….and its not letting me read my subscriptions and not showing my new posts or comments…i dont understand what going on.

    The only things I can see not working are the public feedback log (that visitors can see by viewing your profile) and that in my private feedback page, the latest eprops listed are from 4 weeks ago…not adding the newer ones. Ciao

  • there are still issues – i know i lost 2 guest book entries, and also, on the feedback page (http://www.xanga.com/Private/feedback.aspx), recent eprops don’t show up, even though their number is show in the counter on the left and the comments which are left by visitors are visible under the “comments” tab. the last eprops shown are from may 25th, even though i’ve received eprops 5 times since that date.
    rather annoying i must say.

  • well i got music not workin again on my site and i just about went through like 20 songs that i wanted on my xanga site and i plugged that link into the place where ya put the music that link and it ddint work. i didnt hear anything. and i always got my music from singingfish.com so theres nuthin wrong with that it worked fine before that even before you did anything to the site i dont know why they had to work on it again cause it worked fine before so get back to me on it

  • that’s a big achievement but one that must be equally shared with at least Gorbachev and Thatcher to a lesser degree, no? he seriously can’t get all the credit for that. and plus whether a nuclear war would have happened without reagan is an unknown but what we do know for sure are the tangible achievements of innovators. personally, i think america’s strength is in its innovation so i would have put Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, the US Constitutional authors and a few others over Reagan.

    My comments are all fine, but strange things are happening when I click on the “Feedback Log” link: it shows comments/eProps, listed most recent first, starting on 5/27/2005. If I click on “Next” and then on “Previous” I can see the truly recent feedback from 6/27/2005. Any ideas for why this is happening? Thanks!

  • Sorry, I don’t know if this is the right place to go to, but there is an xanga site that needs to be erased as soon as possible.  It’s http://www.xanga.com/yo_im_back06  There is a serious war going on there, and the girl that owns it is making threats towards people and hell, she even stole another girl’s picture as her own!  It’s just not a pretty place.  Sorry if this is the wrong place and I’m wasting your time, but a lot of pissed off people would really appreciate it if the site was deleted.

  • i don’t know if you’ll see this comment. hopefully you will.. but for the past couple weeks my ‘currently playing’ doesn’t show the picture of the cd i’m listening to. and I’ve tried to look under the help feature and i clicked the bold format, not the text one either and the picture just doesn’t appear ever. I’ve browsed through books and dvds and other cds from different bands to make sure it wasn’t just that one band because I know some don’t have the album pictures and all that, but None of my ‘currently playing’ pictures have been appearing for the past two weeks : and its a little depressing. If you could do something or email me or something, message me on AIM that would be great. I would really appreciate it. I tried fixing it on my own but I can’t do anything else : thank you.

  • I don’t know if you read all of these or not, but there is one xanga in particular I think you should look at…  Her name is Kate, her Xanga name is suchgreatheightskonstantine,  yesterday she had a siezure.  She was deaf for most of her life because of a tumor she had in her brain; she recently went to Chicago to see about a surgery to correct her hearing problem… but it didn’t work that well.  She was still deaf and slipped into a coma shortly after the siezure.  Not a few hours into it, she died.  Her mother has posted her final letter on her website to show those she cared about her memory of them, her site is now only a monument to who she once was…  I wish to ask of you a commemoration of who she is by putting her on the site somewhere where others can see her life…  Maybe featured content?  I feel like I’m not doing enough to help out her boyfriend, but I hope that you can…  Thank you for even reading this comment, if you ever get to it…

  • Hey, I have a question. Okay, I have another site on here, a venting site, and yesterday I got locked out of it because I guess I misspelled my password too many times. It said it would lock me out for 30 min. But this morning, when I tried to log in, it still said that I’m locked out. Why?

  • My guestbook still doesn’t have all it’s entries. Just the first few I ever got are still there. Honestly, I don’t mind either way because the guestbook is a weird idea in the first place… but I didn’t know if you were having some problems somewhere that you didn’t know about. I love xanga and I still can’t understand why that even when I say I’m leaving, I never ever do… you guys did a good job on creating a site that acts as a narcotic. Addictive and annoying! But you just can’t stop!

  • Dude, there’s a problem with disabling comments on an entry already with comments. It goes to a confirmation page letting you know that your existing comments will be lost forever if you disable them, but the button to proceed leads to a “bug” page.

    nice to see you guys finally remove that 255 comment counter limit. feature request: a way to change the number of entries per page (i know it’s not possible now, but in the future…? )

  • thanks for getting the comments back, i appreciate the work. but since you asked how things look….in my feedback log page, i can see all of my comments and subs, and i can see all my comments and eprops on my actual posts, but the eprops section of my feedback log only shows the props from may 27th and earlier, nothing after may 27th, including ones i’ve been getting since everything was fixed (like today for instance). mind you, i’m not complaining, just answering your question of how things look. hopefully maintenance will be a little easier from now on! thanks again!!

  • Well, the days have now turned into weeks and comments are still screwed up.  Not only has there been no update or any information posted here on when or if it might be fixed, but Xanga also refuses to answer e-mails on ANY subject.  So I give up…I’m cancelling my account today and moving to MySpace.com.  Maybe if everyone else who is having problems would do the same thing, then Xanga would have the time and resources to take care of their 3 remaining members.

  • Actually some of my old comments from the last entry on June 14, 2005 didn’t fully restore ‘cuz I had 2 pages of comments and only 1′s visible.  So apparently no, not all of them are restored.

  • Somebody said something about their feedback log not working right…I don’t know if that’s a problem with everybody’s, but mine’s missing everything from 5/28 onward…but now that I think about it, it’s not a big deal at all .  Have a great night, and God bless !

  • something is wrong with my site. when i go to make a new entry, i have to click on the “editing box not working?” button, then i can’t put pictures in, and i can’t put what i’m listening/watching. please fix it *tear* :D

  • So my comments for Wednesday June 15th still aren’t back….At this point I figure I should just give up, seeing as nothing’s been done about it.

  • a bunch of guestbook entries were actually completely lost and i don’t memorize my comments so i wouldn’t surprised if some of those were gone as well….
    in addition, the feedback page no longer shows new eprops. The comments tab shows new comments correctly, but the eprops page hasn’t updated since the middle of june, even though people have left eprops on my site since then. quite annoying, to say the least.

  • My comments haven’t been restored, and my eprops pages does not show the eprops that I have been given since the comments page was brought back up to normal.

  • idk if you guys still look in here… but anyways, you’ve fixed the e props in the Xanga feedback log so that it shows recent eprops instead of being stuck on May 19th (I think that was it anyways) however, you’ve gotten rid of the older eprops… in otherwords, what wasn’t showing up before is now showing up and what was there now isn’t there… hmmm.
